So now that you know how to search for the information you want on Google, how do you get targeted traffic knocking down your door? Well, Cru has complied the ‘Top 10 SEO Tips’ to drive relevant traffic to your website - we’ll give you one right here and now, but you’ll have to visit www.crudigital.com.au/report for the next 9!
Tip 1: Determine the key phrases that people are searching for that are relevant to your product/service.
Many webmasters, even astute ones, fall into the trap of optimizing their website – but for the wrong search phrases! If you refer to your product as “jason recliner” but 90% of searchers think of it as a “lazyboy” then guess which search phrase you should optimize for – here’s a tip – it’s not “jason recliner”!
There a number of tools you can use to determine the popularity of keywords including WordTracker and tools from both Google and Yahoo! What you also need to consider is the competition on these search phrases. Despite my assertations above, if the competition for the term “lazyboy” is extremely high, while competition for “jason recliner” is really low, you might find it is a better strategy to target “jason recliner” as you will have a much better chance of being ranked on the first page.
To help make this decision search engine marketers use a Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI). This compares search volume to competitors and ranks the search phrases effectiveness overall. Of course the index itself only serves as a guide, depending on your strategy and budget you may wish to attack the key phrase/s with the highest volume if you’re confident you can invest the time and money to take the top spot.
Knowing what the top tips and tricks are is one thing – knowing how and when to apply them is another all together! To see how you can get the most out of SEO for your business visit www.crudigital.com.au/report.
